Notes:
- In the night of 4th January we had 2cm snow on top of the already hard frost.
- The morning of the 6th January saw the temperature fall to -5.9C, lowest temperature
since Dec 2000.
- January was the coldest month since 1997 according to my records
- Snow showers started on Sunday 1st February and continued over night and during the day
on the 2nd February causing wide spread distruption. The local schools were closed. The
snow readed about 5 to 7cm..
- Snow continued to stay on the group through to 5th February when we had a further 8cm
over night closing the schools yet again. A thaw started during the day but the
temperatures dropped close to freezing durign the night and a further 2cm of snow had
fallen by breakfast, however by 9am it was a blizzard and a further 9cm snow fell. The
heavy snow turned lighter mid morninng and stopped about 6pm when the temperture fell to
-3C over night.
- 1st June. Rainfall to date is only three quarters of the average for the time of year.
- 27th June - Servere thunderstorm between 7 and 8pm. 44mm of rain recorded in less than 2
hours making it the wettest day since October 2001.
- August - The anemometer jammed during August but freed itself after a very large gust of
wind. Hence the low average and 0 readings on the monthly graph
- September with 10mm rain was the driest month since April 2007
- 13th to 15th November, very wet and windy 38mm of rain fell over the two days and the
sustained winds got up to 36mph.
- November was the wettest month since November 2000 and only had three days in a row
without rain.
- 17th/18th December. Snow started with a blizzerd about 9:00pm and by the time it stopped
late into the night we had 15cm of snow on the ground with patches that were deeper where
it drifted in the wind.
- 19th December - Very cold -4.5C overnight.
- 20th December - Further 2cm of snow overnight followed by -4.7C.
- 21st December - 10cm of snow fell between 4pm and 9pm. The snow was wet and settled on
the snow and ice that was already present. While the rain after the Christmas started to
wash it away, there was still the remains of it at New Year.
